2017 AKI Australia Friendshuku – 25 & 26 November, Mittagong NSW

2017 2nd National Friendship Gasshuku (Friendshuku 2) – Flyer

Come join us again for this unique training experience – our second Friendship Gasshuku. The weekends training will be held in beautiful Mittagong again and the training led this year by our fourth dans from across AKI Australia. As well as training there’ll be plenty of time together to eat and hang out at the beautiful Harmony Centre. Come with an open heart and open mind to live, love and learn in a collaborative, supportive and friendly environment.

This is our last gathering of the year and a chance to review and acknowledge everything that is Aikido Kenkyukai 2017.  As this is a live-in style gasshuku and food and accomodation provided, everyone will need to pre-register prior to the event. Takeda Shihan (8th Dan) visiting Australia – 30 Oct – 5 Nov 2017

Thanks to everyone who came along on Thursday to make the Ryde Aikido Dojo 8th Anniversary Training such a special evening.

Suzuki Sensei (7th dan) in Melbourne 16-17 September

Next up on the 2017 Aiki-calendar is Suzuki Sensei returning to Australia – this time to Melbourne. AKI Bentleigh dojo will be hosting this weekend (16 and 17 September 2017) visit of Suzuki Sensei to share his teaching. This should be a wonderful weekend. Details are outlined below:

AKI Australia Inaugural Women’s Camp, Adelaide 21-22 January 2017.

 

2017-womens-gasshuku We’re delighted to confirm that AKI Australia’s Inaugural Women’s Camp will be taking place on the 21-22 of January 2017 in Adelaide! This will be the very first Australian Aikido Camp led by women especially for women!

Women practitioners of all levels are warmly invited to join the training. Enclosed is a copy of the Women’s Camp poster.

Some homestay options will be available and some social events will be organised to make the most out of our gathering 🙂

Friendship gasshuku this weekend!

Only two days to go to this weekends Inaugural AKI Australia Friendship Gasshuku!  If you haven’t registered but still want to join in, download the registration form and follow the instructions to register and pay.

Its a live-in style gasshuku with Training Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, dinner on Saturday night (Thai restaurant) and accomodation all included. Accomodation is dormitory style and you will need to bring your own linen etc. There are kitchen facilities for the morning and there will be some basic breakfast items provided. There are also some good cafes in town, but if you have specific dietary requirements you’re advised to self-cater.

Full details are on the registration form, but please remember to bring:

  • A copy of the waiver (if you’re not a financial member of Newcastle, Balmain, Ryde or Orange dojo) 
  • Linen, Blankets, Towels, Pillows, Toilettries  etc
  • Dogis and weapons
  • Smiles 🙂

Happy New Year Everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying your holiday break.

Just a short note to confirm Ryde Aikido classes will resume on Tuesday 12th January. Don’t forget annual memberships ($90.00) will be due.

Sense I Bill Gleason will be joining us this week and next

Sensei Bill Gleason (7th dan) from Boston is arriving this week to lead a 3 day workshop this long weekend at Terry Hills, and he has kindly agreed to take classes at Ryde before and after. This is a rare opportunity to learn from someone who has dedicated his life to developing his aikido. Classes will start a little earlier and go for 2hours. Details are:

When: Thursday 4th June, next Tuesday 9th and Thursday 11th

Where: AKI Ryde dojo

Time: Classes will start 6.30 to 8.30 on these days.

Cost: $20.

Visitors are welcome but will need to arrive early to complete a waiver. Please also join us afterwards for a meal and refreshment if you can.
