2024 Wrap and 2025 start dates
We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Christmas-New year break. We return to training on Tuesday 14th January and are looking forward to a great 2025!
2024 Wrap up:
After a challenging few years with COVID disruptions, normality returned to the dojo for 2024. The energy in West Ryde dojo has continued to expand with new and existing students continuing to grow and improve. We thank everyone for their support and dedication throughout 2024.
2024 was a year of re-connection with old friends with many of us travelling to Japan for the first time since COVID to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Takeda Shihan’s dojo. It was so nice to reunite with friends from all around the world and enjoy some wonderful training after such a long break.
Back home we enjoyed some special weekend training camps throughout the year. The Easter gasshuku (training camp) in Canberra, led by Hiroshi Yamamoto sensei from Japan was a great weekend of training, fun and friendship. Our Winter training in Orange focused on professional development for current and future instructors, and our end-of-year ‘Friendshukku’ in Mittagong was this year led by senior grading panel instructors who generously shared their insights.
And 2025 has more in store – it will be the 45th anniversary of Aikido Kenkyukai Australia with our founding instructor, Suzuki Sensei coming from Japan (with an entourage of around 10 senior students) to celebrate at the Easter training camp in Canberra – back where it all started. That will be one not to miss!
