1. Venue: West Ryde Dojo – we are hosting this year !
2. Format & schedule: will be similar to previous years – training Fri afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning, with dinner on Sat evening and lunch provided on Saturday and Sunday.
3. Sensei: Hiroshi Yamamoto (6th dan) will be leading the classes
4. Accommodation (for visitors) : We will only be able to billet a limited number of visitors, and will distribute some alternative accommodation suggestions/options – but don’t let that stop you from making your own arrangements as early as possible – accommodation during the holiday period will be at a premium !… so first in – best dressed

Further details on accommodation, fees, registrations and payments will follow ASAP.

Thanks for a great 2022 and we wish you all a safe and enjoyable Christmas-New year break. We will return to training on Tuesday 31st January and are looking forward to a great 2023!
2022 Wrap up:
After a challenging couple of years with COVID disruptions 2022 was a year of reconnection for our dojo. With a slow and steady return of many old faces and a few new ones, the energy in the dojo has continued to grow and grow, and we thank everyone for their support and dedication throughout 2022.
We enjoyed training with other dojos at three special weekend training camps throughout the year – Easter in Canberra, Winter in Orange and our end of year ‘Friendshukku’ in Mittagong – all led by senior instructors from various dojos across the country generously sharing their insights.
And 2023 has more in store: West Ryde dojo is proud to announce we will be hosting the 2023 Easter training camp. Depending on the international COVID situation we are hopeful we may be able to host a Japanese instructor once again – stay tuned for more details!
In the meantime have great holiday and we look forward to seeing you again on 31 January 2023.

Hi all, With the current Omicron outbreak continuing to grow, we have decided to hold off our return to classes until it is safer to do so – the current modelling indicates this will likely be around February but we will continue to monitor the situation and let you know any updates.
This is again disappointing for all of us as we love training with you all but the safety of our members is first and foremost. Hopefully it will only be a temporary delay and we will be back on the mat very soon. In the meantime use this as an opportunity to practice some solo exercises and see what you can observe. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Stay safe and see you soon 🙂

This Thursday 16th December is our final class for 2021, so we will have a special training class followed by a meal and celebration somewhere locally. It has been another disrupted year for the dojo and a particularly tough year for many of us, but amongst all the cloud there has been some silver linings.
Come along on Thursday and lets celebrate all the positive events and experiences, no matter how small that have graced us over 2021.
If you can’t make it to training you are welcome to come along and share a meal/ drink with us. Looking forward to seeing you all 🙂

Starting today Ryde Aikido will re-open again to double vaccinated aikidoka!! To comply with the Public Health Orders and our COVID safety plan we will need to see your COVID-19 vaccination certificate upon entry to the dojo. Please make sure you have it handy. Our other covid safety requirements (check-in and screening etc) will continue as before.
It’s been a long and enduring break with lockdown this year and we’re looking all forward to dusting off the cobwebs and getting rolling again….. in time for our 12th anniversary! We look forward to seeing you all again.
Training will be at the usual times: arrive 6:30 for a 7:00 – 8:30 pm class every Tuesday and Thursday.

With our instructors either away for work this week or in isolation awaiting COVID testing results we will have to cancel tomorrow evening’s class. We will also check the new restrictions that come in this evening and adjust any training to comply. Your health and safety remains our primary concern.
Normal training will resume on Tuesday (unless otherwise advised). See you all then.
