The Magnificent Eleven

This July will see eleven of Aikido Kenkyukai International’s finest visit Australia. The AKI Kamakura Gym will be holding its 20th anniversary gasshuku in Sydney on July 16/17th. Eleven Dan grades (2nd to 7th) from Japan will make the largest group of high Dan grades to visit Australia from Japan since the early 90’s. We may not see an event this size again.
Seino sensei (7th dan) will lead the training and the others will be training partners for us all – a great opportunity to learn from so many! Kamakura Gym dojo has a long history, having morphed from the original Sasame Dojo – the 1st dojo in Shonan Aikido Renmei, now AKI. The members of the Gym have faithfully followed teachings of Takeda Sensei, and Yamaguchi Sensei’s waza from the 80s and early 90s.

This will be a one-off opportunity to participate in what is bound to be a very enjoyable weekend of keiko and socialising. 🙂

Please note: Due to space restrictions we will have to limit numbers so register early to avoid disappointment.
When: 16 and 17 July 2016
Where: Seaforth Scout hall, Seaforth, NSW

6th Anniversary training this Thursday

It was AKI Ryde Aikido’s 6-year anniversary last week. Wow, can you believe it? Sometimes it seems like the years have just flown by.

So we’re going to celebrate with an anniversary training on Thursday followed by dinner at a local restaurant (to be confirmed).

Training will start a little earlier – about 6:45pm so please make sure you are there early to help prepare the dojo. And it looks like we might have a couple of sempai from our sister dojos joining us so it should prove to be an enjoyable evening. Hope to see you there!
